ACT Leader of the Opposition, Alistair Coe has announced the Canberra Liberals Shadow portfolios. The new roles demonstrate the Canberra Liberals commitment to delivering an alternative vision for Canberra, one that will work against a two-tier society and look out for families, youth, seniors and the most vulnerable members of the community.

“Each one of the new Canberra Liberals Members will be taking on portfolio responsibilities with Members from the 8th Assembly taking on new challenges,” Mr Coe said today.

“I will continue as the Shadow Treasurer and Shadow Minister for Transport, I will also take on the role of Economic Development. Each of these portfolios are key areas in terms of growth and employment for our city.

“My deputy, Nicole Lawder will take on the Planning, Infrastructure and Heritage portfolios and will work closely with the community to ensure we are getting the planning needs for Canberra right.

“Andrew Wall will remain the Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations and will become the Shadow Minister for Local Business and Tourism and the Shadow Minister for Education and Training. With Mr Wall’s background in small business and management he will bring fresh ideas to each portfolio.

“Jeremy Hanson remains the Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Veterans’ Affairs. Mr Hanson brings a wealth of knowledge to both roles and represented each in the past Assembly with pride.

“Giulia Jones will add the Police and Emergency Services and Corrections portfolios to her responsibilities along with her former role as the Shadow Minister for Women. Mrs Jones took on the portfolio of Emergency Services just months before the October election and hit the ground running with new ideas which she will no doubt continue to do.

“Steve Doszpot has extensive experience running organisations and will now use those experiences and skills to represent the Canberra Liberals as Shadow Minister of Urban Services. Mr Doszpot will also remain Shadow Minister for ICT and Seniors.

“Vicki Dunne will take on the role of Shadow Minister for Health as well as Shadow Minister for Arts. Mrs Dunne has spent the past four years as Speaker of the Assembly and with the skills and knowledge she gained from that role will continue the Canberra Liberals fight for a local Health system all Canberrans deserve.

“Elizabeth Lee will represent that Canberra Liberals as Shadow Minister for Environment and Shadow Minister for Disability. Ms Lee has a background in law and will tackle her new responsibilities with the enthusiasm she approaches all aspects of her new role with.

“Elizabeth Kikkert is a mother of five children and has strong family values and with that will become the Shadow Minister for Families, Youth and Community Services as well as the Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs.

“Mark Parton will take on the roles of Shadow Minister for Housing and Shadow Minister for Gaming and Racing. Mr Parton has a keen interest in both of these areas and will work with Canberrans to ensure all voices are heard within these portfolios.

“James Milligan will represent our team as the Shadow Minister for Indigenous Affairs and Sport and Recreation. Mr Milligan’s strong community connections will no doubt stand him in good stead to take on these important responsibilities.

“I’m extremely proud of our Shadow Ministry. We all look forward to the next four years of service to the people of the ACT and serving in our respective roles with honour,” Mr Coe concluded.
