I’m giving the government a plan to address the foul odour which is still affecting Tuggeranong residents as they try to go about their daily lives, Shadow Minister for Environment Nicole Lawder said today.

“Because Andrew Barr seems to deny there’s an issue, the government needs to conduct two field based odour surveys, one in February and one in March to confirm the problem for itself,” Ms Lawder said.

“The government then needs to process the data from each survey and communicate with Canberrans about a solution.

“It’s widely believed the odour is coming from the Mugga Lane Tip, but the Environment Protection Authority hasn’t even been able to confirm that.

“If Andrew Barr understood the impact of this odour on Tuggeranong residents, he would be doing something about it, but so far he’s taken no interest and is even questioning whether it is an issue.

“In the Assembly, I’ll be calling on the government to take action, outline a solution and fix the problem,” Ms Lawder concluded.
